STIHL MS 162 12″ Petrol Chainsaw

The STIHL MS 162 Petrol Chainsaw is a brand new 2024 30.1CC petrol chainsaw. The MS 162 will replace the MS 170 and bring with it a more sleek and modern design along with 4 key updates; lateral chain tensioning, an improved control lever, improved tank visibility and an anti-vibration system.

The MS 162 is powered by a 30.1cc 2-stroke engine. It features a guide bar length of 12″. The saw gives a power output of 1.2kW or 1.6hp and is ideal for logging thanks to its lightness, weighing in at only 4.5 kg. This chainsaw is easy to use and features an automatic chain lubrication system. The Chain Tensioner of the STIHL MS 162 is now located on the side of the saw instead of on the front. This makes it much easier to adjust when busy chopping. The MS 162 now features a much bigger fuel tank; at 400ml you’ll be able to cut just under twice as much as the MS 170 on a single tank of fuel.

STIHL 2-MIX Engine

Thanks to the highly economical STIHL 2-MIX engine with 1-in-4 channel technology you can expect fuel savings of up to 20% when compared to STIHL chainsaws in the same performance class without it. Better yet, you keep the same high torque and wide speed range and exhaust emissions are reduced by up to 50%.

Anti-vibration System

Power tools can lead to long-term effects on blood vessels in your hands and arms due to the intense vibrations they cause. STIHL has helped overcome this issue by developing an effective anti-vibration system where the oscillations from the high-speed engine are dampened, thus, reducing the vibrations a user feels through the handles.

Compensator

A small controller in the carburettor helps to prevent the fuel-air mixture from getting richer as the filter becomes clogged through use. The correct amount of fuel is delivered to the carburettor depending on the quantity of air which is passing through the air filter. Thanks to this feature the fuel/air ratio in the combustion mixture remains constant and so does the engine power. The filter doesn’t need to be cleaned until an appreciable drop in power occurs.

Single-lever master control

All the important functions such as the start, choke, throttle and stop mechanisms are easily operated on a single lever.
